Претставници на Обединета Македонска Дијаспора (ОМД) минатиот четврток беа Канбера, во Aвстралискиот Парламентот. Таму се одржа средба со советници за надворешна политика на прајминистерот Малком Турнбул, лидерот на опозицијата Бил Шортен и на зелената партија Ричард Ди Натале.
Претставниците на ОМД, во состав: Снежана Димитровска, Ордан Андреевски и Мартин Николоски во разговорите зборуваа за можностите и предизвиците за градење на поблиски врски со Македонија и Македонската дијаспора во Австралија и да се генерира повеќепартиска подршка за нова полиса кон Македонија и нејзината дијаспора.
Директорот на ОМД во Австралија, Ордан Андреевски, во разговорите потенцираше дека “постои голема потреба да се пренесат нашите легитимни барања на нашата заедница до лидерите на големите и помалите политички партии во Австралија и на сите засегнати страни во австралиското општество во врска со штетната надворешна политика на Австралија кон Македонија, и не само кон Република Македонија туку и кон македонската заедница, и негативното влијание кон демократијата и мултикултурализмот со полисата да се ословува како поранешна југословенска Република Македонија.”
Од ОМД испратија јасна порака до сите сегашни и идни федерални членови на Парламентот и на Сенатот на претстојните федерални избори на 2 јули 2016 година. Австралиско-македонската заедница ќе ги поддржи оние кандидати кои ни помагаат во усогласување на позитивни и значајни промени во надворешната политика на Австралија кон Македонија и Македонската дијаспора.
Треба да се изрази благодарност кон Австралиско– македонската парламентарна група за пријателство, во која се пратеници од владејачката либерална и опозиционата лабуристичка партија: Лук Симпкинс, Тања Плиберсек, Стивенс Џонс, Крег Кели, Тим Вотс, Алана Мектиернан, д-р Мајк Кели и многу други.
Australia’s political leaders urged to treat Macedonia and its diaspora equally to all other countries and diasporas
In the first week of Australia’s 2016 federal election campaign, a delegation from the United Macedonian Diaspora (Australia) completed a series of briefings at Parliament House in Canberra with the foreign policy advisors to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, the Leader of the Opposition Bill Shorten and the Leader of the Australian Greens, Senator Richard Di Natale. The objective of the briefings was to explore strategies, opportunities and challenges for building closer ties with Macedonia and its diaspora in Australia and to generate stronger multiparty support for a new policy towards Macedonia and its diaspora.
UMD Australia’s Director, Ordan Andreevski explained that “There is a pressing need to communicate our legitimate concerns to the leaders of Australia’s major and minor political parties and to all key stakeholders in Australian society about the detrimental impact of Australia’s bi-partisan foreign policy on Macedonia, not just on the Republic of Macedonia and the 100,000 strong diaspora but also how it is adversely impacting Australia’s democracy, multiculturalism, its global image, reputation and influence in a fast changing, volatile and inter-dependent world.”
“Australia’s policy on Macedonia was hatched in 1994 behind closed doors with no national, parliamentary or public policy debate and without input and consent from Australia’s Macedonian community. This is the worst way to develop robust foreign policies in a modern and multicultural democracy like Australia. Foreign policy innovation has been blocked by relentless pressure from the bankrupt Hellenic Republic and its lobbyists in Australia and by the readiness of the leadership of Labor and the Liberals to engage in political opportunistic behaviour and practices.”
“It is clear to everyone that through its policy of institutional discrimination and de-legitimisation of the Republic of Macedonia, Australia has provided tacit support for Greece’s propaganda war against Macedonia and Macedonians at home and abroad. This tells the world that Australia’s commitment to its values and core interests is negotiable.”
The meetings in Canberra provided a great opportunity to launch and discuss UMD’s Guide for Organising the Australian Macedonian Community for the 2016 Federal Election.
“We want to send a clear message to all current and future federal members of the House of Representatives and of the Senate across the political spectrum that in the forthcoming federal election on 2 July 2016, the Australian Macedonian community will support those candidates that help us in bringing positive and significant change in Australia’s foreign policy on Macedonia and its diaspora such as members of the Australia Macedonia Parliamentary Friendship Group such as Luke Simpkins MP, Tanya Plibersek MP, Stephens Jones MP, Craig Kelly MP, Tim Watts MP, Alannah MacTiernan MP, Dr. Mike Kelly and many others.”
“We can not be taken for granted by anyone, anymore. We have a new generation of young, educated and connected Australian citizens with Macedonian heritage who demand equal rights and respect for Macedonia and its hard working and tax paying diaspora just like Australia provides respect and support for the Hellenic Republic and its diaspora.”
“We call upon all Australian Macedonians to read and discuss the UMD Guide for the 2016 Federal Election and to develop an Action Plan for each Electorate. United we can navigate Australia to a better future.”
Since 2004, UMD has been working actively to shape national, parliamentary and policy debates in Australia on a range of important public policy, foreign affairs and research issues. These include ways to improve the bilateral relations between Australia and Macedonia; submissions to the Australian Parliament to increase the impact of Australia’s Overseas Representation, the Inquiry into Multiculturalism and Social Inclusion, the Inquiry into Australia’s International Development Assistance Program, the Australian Research Council Linkage Project on The Macedonian Diaspora in Australia: Current and Potential Links with the Homeland.”; a submission into Australia’s Consular Strategy 2014-2016 and the Proposal for New White Paper on Australia’s Foreign and International Development Policies.
